About Ayni
Ayni is a Quechua word for reciprocity: what you give, you get back. This site is built on that idea. It reads public civic and economic data, such as census estimates, Federal Reserve Beige Book reports and startup formation by county, against the lived experience behind the numbers.
What you will find here
Reports explain the present by county, metro and jurisdiction. Trends show how the numbers move over time. My Read is the editor's own writing: essays on why the things we accept as given came to be.
Who publishes it
Ayni is operated by Osparna Inc., which also publishes Oluwadi, a public directory of companies, investors and universities, and Osparna. The three publications share one contact address. Ayni's essays are written and edited by the owner, a technologist who lives in Reston, Virginia, and is identified by role, not name, on purpose.
How it is made
Data comes from public sources, cited on each page. Essays are the author's own work and carry their publication dates. Corrections are welcome through the contact address in the footer, and substantive corrections are noted on the piece.
